Why can't you use the same pins and drive them deeper into the block if they need to be tighter?
Being tapered, they are designed for this. Why is it necessary to remove the pins?

But if you are wanting to replace them with straight pins, then ream twice.
Ron N's two bit method is best. You want to ream to at least to the diameter of
the hole at the top so first ream with a J bit (.277), then ream with a K bit (.282).
This should be suitable for the .288 pins you're thinking of installing.

Deglaze the holes after reaming with a 30 caliber gun barrel brush in a drill.
I also use powdered rosin on the pin for reasons I have long forgot.
