Referral fees are certainly deductible. ANY amount you pay out to build or conduct your business is deductible. Just because the IRS doesn't pre-print a line for certain expenses on the tax form that doesn't make it so you can't deduct it. Yes there is the Miscellaneous category that would work for this, but there are also a whole bunch of blank lines where you can write your own descriptions. Programs like turbo tax let you add as many lines as you want. Just keep your documentation to support your deduction. I am a new piano tuner. But I am also a CPA.
