Deductibility of Referral Fees

Referral fees are certainly deductible. ANY amount you pay out to build or
conduct your business is deductible. Just because the IRS doesn't pre-print
a line for certain expenses on the tax form that doesn't make it so you
can't deduct it. Yes there is the Miscellaneous category that would work
for this, but there are also a whole bunch of blank lines where you can
write your own descriptions. Programs like turbo tax let you add as many
lines as you want. Just keep your documentation to support your deduction.
I am a new piano tuner. But I am also a CPA.

Has anyone on the list deducted, as a business expense, referral fees paid
out for a given calender year? I was wondering, because since 2000, I've
paid out a fairly significant sum, but had not included it as part of my
business expenses. Maybe that's what the Miscellaneous category is for?
Thanks!
