One thing I have done is to lend out an old piano, which I didn't have space
for, to a family who couldn't afford to buy another one after being told
that their really old wooden framed job was completely useless. That way I
get to tune my own piano and get paid for it, don't have to pay for storage
plus I have had referrals from that family. I did of course do a bit of work
on the piano to make it serviceable.

It is amazing how many referrals can come about from one tuning. I have a
record of one job that led to 150 other tunings.....referrals from referrals
as it were.
