Quick fix for pedal lyre

Hi Phil!

A quick fix (not the right one - which is drilling and plugging) is to split
and quarter a vertical hammer shank, glue the pieces in the stripped hole
with your favorite aliphatic resin glue, thus providing the old screws fresh
wood to thread in to.

I had to use this on a 1904 Chickering quarter grand last year and it did
the trick.

Good Luck!

Subject: Quick fix for pedal lyre

Anyone got a quick fix for a fallen down pedal lyre that has the hold-up
screws stripped out? I can't use a thicker screw (maxed out), can't
fill it with epoxy (It'll run out). Other that gluing in a dowel and
redrilling, any other solutions? I'd appreciate any help.

Phil Ryan
