The bridle tape definately has an effect on the FEEL of repetition in the upright. I think it's a mistake to downplay its importance in function. You will find that the actions made without the tapes have greater dynamic lost motion. Darrel Fandrich wrote on this topic years ago. Jim Ellis also published an article on bridle tape function in the Journal a few years ago. By the way, cork bridle tapes don't function the same as the originals. I feel they are unprofessional except in certain cases. I've seen grand actions that were built without repetition levers that played "just fine". Does that mean that they aren't crucial to grand action functioning?
