Horace said: "In Thayer actions, the knuckles wear differently than they do in other designs; and they (the knuckles) do not respond as well to traditional "reshaping" techniques. The picture demonstrates this pretty well. Horace, et al, I've found that bolstering with key bushing cloth will bring these thingees into a more proper shape. Dip the tip of a strip of key bushing cloth, into some glue and let harden. Trim to a point and thread the strip between the knuckle leather and shank. I've also used a leather needle for this purpose. A leather needle is a FLAT needle with a split eye/barb that will hold the material.
