Hello List and Patrick D who said:
""I'm no expert" but ... what is the miking like? Right inside the
piano? Perhaps a more natural distance would help a great deal (or even
just a slightly different location in the room, if it's already at some
distance from the instrument).

Patrick

I find the optimum Mic. placing is a stereo pair, on stereo bar (about 7" -
8" apart) the Mic. stand about 8' - 10' away (lid open) the height of the
Mics. about half-way up the opening, and placed in the curve of the
"bent-side". I use a matched pair of Electrovoice RE20s, (dynamics) in their
splendid shock mounts, straight into my Sony TCD-D10 DAT machine. Sometimes
I use a pair of Boundary Mics. Depends on the location. Boundaries are best
in a very live acoustic, but those EVs are just wonderful... :-)
Regards from a wet Sussex, waiting return of wife and family getting the
Fish and Chips! :-)
