Shortly before Theodor Steinway got homesick and returned to Germany in order to open their Hamburg factory in June of 1880, Steinway & Sons opened a retail outlet in London, “Steinway Hall – London”,  in 1875 from where it was easier to take advantage of worldwide trade due to the sophistication of the British piano business at the time.

I have a customer with a 1906 Steinway upright , and the decal on the fallboard reads new york, london and hamburg. London?
