Thanks Joe and Dale! Yes, I plan to "play them in" for a while before anything drastic. and yes, I agree that the 3:1 ratio is too strong, and that Joe's recipe(s) is closer to what I would probably use. But the good people at Ronsen told me that the Wurzens can be voiced "up" a bit, but did not give specifics; I should call them back and ask. Joe also had a good point about the VAST tonal difference between these new hammers and the original "Rocks" that were on there before. At the same time, I regulary tune a customers' Yamaha U3 upright, which has the original hammers on it, in good condition. This piano sounds AWSOME! Rich, mellow tone (I've never voiced it) and it'll go from the softest ppp to the most thundering fff I've ever heard...in ANY upright. Having said that, I'd say YIKES! My suggestion(s) would be: 1. Play the hammers in for 3-6 months, before even thinking about "juicing" them! (This is dependant on how much you play the piano, EVERY DAY!)<G> 2. Since this piano is a Yamama G-1, I'd say you got used to the sound of Shattering Glass and now have a whole new palate of sound/tone to listen to.<G> 3. A 3:1 ratio (3 parts Acetone to 1 part Lacquer), is WAAAAY to strong, IMO. I usually use a mixture of double that rato or triple that ratio! (i.e. 6:1 or 10:1)!!!! 4. Most of what I have gleaned on Wurzens is that the bottom few, (bass), hammers usually need a little "brightening" and likewise the top half octave or so. Proceed very cautiously on this, Please!? Okay?<G> Very Best Regards, Joe Garrett, R.P.T. Captain, Tool Police Squares R I _________________________________________________________________ Is your PC infected?
