>>Kerry,
>>Are you sure about that? If yes, it is very interesting.

>That's right. No crown, no bearing. At least no intentional bearing.
>Readings I took this summer appeared to be random slightly +-, but
>essentially zero bearing.

>>I do not understand the cause of the distortion. Are the agraffes or the

>It's not the agraffes. The soundboard assembly isn't stiff enough.
>The entire scale is one big killer octave.

And I'll second Ron N. When he flew in to Sydney on July 16 this
year, as good timing would have it, I had to check a buzz in our
rebuilt Kawai KG6 (loose screws in lid hinge) that very afternoon for
a concert which was being held at the Independent Theatre on the
following Tuesday. There are three Stuart 220's at this theatre along
with our resident rebuilt Kawai KG6 (image, of KG6 freshly rebuilt,
is at http://overspianos.com.au/kg6.html).

Although Ron and Loui had only just endured the twenty hour trip from
Wichita to Sydney, he was on for the trip to see to Stuart 220. He
came equipped with his Lowell downbearing gauge, which is a must for
serious downbearing analysis.
