Calculate string size

Forget the .033, just think of it as 33, OK?   Subtract 5 =3D 28,=
 divide by 2 =3D 14 wire size.

Micrometer reading - 5 , and divide by 2.     Gw=3D(d-5)/2

Would someone be kind enough to tell me the formula for=
 calculating  the string size with the reading you get from the=
 micrometer measurement?
I.E. if the mic tells me the thickness is .033 of an inch, What=
 is the string size?
