Nicely done Ron!  

If you use the <note,weight> pairs as inputs to an X,Y scatter graph, 
Excel will calculate and draw the spline for you (I don't know how you
get the numbers out, though). Then when you drag a 
point on the graph, there is no ambiguity about which data to update 
and it just does it.  I expect the spline it draws would match pretty 
closely the one you're calculating.  Easy enough to check.
