Nope. Can be used directly on/in a piano. Yes, I see that carrying it =
around might be a bit cumbersome - I "carry" it in the trunk of my car =
when I think I may need it.

  That's why the yamaha levelling straight edge is cool: it is not so =
big and can be carried everywhere.
