David, The M-450 is the lowest priced model of Yamaha produced here in the states. Though the cabinetry is pretty much "plain", lots of square corners and such. Just remember that it is a price point piano. That being said, the action, keyboard, and plate all come from the M-500 model. The biggest difference being the above mentioned cabinetry, and slightly less mass to the strungback. It's not rough and tough like the P-22, but it is a nice piano for the money. Hope that helps. Any body familiar with the low end models of Yamaha and Kawai who can recommend a favorite model for a person with a reduced budget. I just don't see enough of them to have any service familiarity.
