Hammer hanging jig...

The proper sized dowel through those holes could help you hang perfectly 
straight hammers w/o fearing glue curing twists/sags, etc. due to sloppy 
fit.  Just remember to remove dowel before playing... ;-}


Slightly more seriously:
Would the weight reduction possibly _reduce_ the woody sound?
