440 or 442?

Hi All.

The Boston Pops are coming my way, and the venue hosting them is
requiring 441 for the piano. There is no piano in that venue.

The 2 Concert pianos I am most intimate with are in a theater not being
used at the moment and will be available to the venue. Here's the question:

-The rider calls for a S&S - at least 7' - to be tuned to 441.
-The 2 pianos I know best - S&S D at 440 and Baldwin SD10 at 442 might
be made available to the venue.

The reason the Baldwin sits at 442 is because that theater gets its
share of European visitors requiring 442. At first, the artists raise
their eyebrows when they see Baldwin on the fallboard, until they sit
down and play it.

The Steinway does not like having its pitch changed..oh, it will
cooperate eventually, but the Baldwin seems more receptive to this pitch
and staying there than does the Steinway. The Steinway gets the bulk of
the work in that venue.

I have recommended, of the 2, if they are made available, the Baldwin.

Your comments are appreciated.
