Hi Terry, Mike Spalding pointed out the recording I was talking about, initially recorded in 1967. Rubenstein did make an earlier recording of the Nocturnes, and it is very good playing but the recording quality isn't as nice. Avery mentioned Abbey Simon's Chopin recordings. I do have them, they are on VoxBox. Although I think very highly of him, I'm not particularly fond of his Chopin. In addition the piano sounds too punchy for my personal taste. Of course, you may love them. At a minimum, his recordings are great for anyone studying interpretations of Chopin from respectable pianists. Another notable piano recording is Werner Haas' recordings of Debussy. They are on Phillips, and you can usually find them in the 2 for 1 package. Great playing of Debussy, and they also are a very nice quality recording (minus the hiss) and have a very nice sounding piano. - John > Do you have any details on this recording - label, title, etc. I'm > always > looking for good piano music (I don't have much), and I do so enjoy > Chopin. > Thanks. > > Terry Farrell
