grand piano lid weight

Hi,

Recently I've been curious about the weight of the lid on my 1925 S&S 
L. It has a walnut-ish finish. It is very light, especially compared to 
a friend's 10-year old B and at least twice as light as a Boston GP193. 
Both of the latter pianos have a black finish. I've never felt a grand 
piano lid that is so light.

Is this normal for older pianos, or could this potentially be a lid 
that was replaced?
