Aural tuning- 300 cents flat

    With all due respect, Your posting on pitch raising may be true for your
2 1/2 years experience, but it makes no sense to this guy's 30 years
experience.
    Pianos that are very flat do not necessarily have loose tuning pins, and
what would a cracked soundboard have to do with holding pitch?
    A piano with loose tuning pins as you describe will not hold at any
pitch.,and is a candidate for rebuilding-CA treatment  or the dump.
     If we are talking about a structurally sound, though neglected upright
of modern design. Pull it up with any of the proven pitch raising methods,
as fast as you possibly are able and replace some broken strings if
necessary (You'll be surprised at how many can withstand major pitch
corrections without string breakage)
    Not every piano can or should be pitch raised , and I suggest that you
search the archives or past issues of the Journal for pitch raising
articles.
    Personally I saw the late George Defebaugh(Spelling?) along with our
current colleague Jim Coleman in class 25 years ago present their system of
pitch raising  and I've been jerkin' these old boxes up to pitch ever since
