If you tune aurally, making markers for the tuning pins
to navigate the temperament bearings is helpful.

Thick card punchings with the hole enlarged. Write the
note designations on the punching; # designations are
not necessary, they are easily recognized from the
other markers.

Set them up so that the outer pins in the field are tuned
with the center strings muted. see attachment.

Once the bearings have been laid, pull the mutes and tune
the center strings. Tuning out chromatically from there is
pretty straight forward.
