Getting leather that is the proper thickness can be difficult especially when compared with key bushing cloth. Sizing it can be more difficult without resorting to crushing wood (if the bothers you), it's a little noisier when it starts to wear. But it does seem to wear longer, though I'm not really sure about that now with the better bushing cloth that is now available.
