I think you have it, Mike, it's just looking at the same phenomenon we all cope with only backwards ... interesting.

I had a professor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville who was the cello teacher; had a reputation for true perfect pitch. The put the old stroboscope on him once and asked him to play (alone!) certain scales tempered, then in just intonation. He nailed 'em to within the accuracy of the scope. Amazing.

Alan,

Is he perhaps telling how to adjust from ET back to just intervals?  In other words, M3 in ET is 13.7 cents wide, so his chart says to flat the M3 by 13.7 cents to give a just M3.  Just a guess.
