This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment The further procedure I now use is to then coat the bridge top with clear coat epoxy and lightly swab the holes using a toothpick. After it=92s cured, sand back the epoxy with 220 and then 400 paper. Recut = the notches. With the appropriate bridge pin drill, drill out the holes again=97slowly and carefully being careful about the angle. Insert the new pins with just a touch of epoxy (very slow cure type) and wipe off the excess. When cured, spray the bridge cap with a light coat of satin lacquer (I do it out of a can as it=92s easier to control a light coat). Looks great and the epoxy hardens the surface nicely. =20 David Love davidlovepianos@comcast.net=20 -----Original Message----- From: pianotech-bounces@ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces@ptg.org] On Behalf Of St=E9phane Collin Sent: Monday, May 16, 2005 7:06 AM To: Pianotech Subject: Re: Sanding bridge top =20 Sounds clever. Sand until they just disappear. Recheck the bearing and make adjustments to the plate if necessary. =20 =20 David Love davidlovepianos@comcast.net=20 -----Original Message----- From: pianotech-bounces@ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces@ptg.org] On Behalf Of St=E9phane Collin Sent: Monday, May 16, 2005 1:22 AM To: Pianotech Subject: Sanding bridge top =20 Hello David. =20 When sanding with a block, do you use jigs to make sure you sand horizontally ? =20 Best regards. =20 St=E9phane Collin. =20 Sand paper and a block of wood. The wood around the old bridge pin holes will be too delicate to scrape or plane. =20 =20 David Love davidlovepianos@comcast.net=20 Also, what is the best way to plane down the trebble bridge, so you get rid of the strings marks on the top of the bridge ? =20 ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
