jack spring to wippen glue

Seems to me that hot hide glue would be corrosive due to its acid nature.

For a set, I would probably use hide glue.
As for the PVC-E, I find it causes rust. Does anyone else notice this?
For the casual replacement in a house, I just use the wood glue I carry with

me.
