---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Hey all, It has been my understanding that 440 is the standard pitch as set by congressional action in 1917. A brief google search turned up this posting from the Mechanical Music Digest from about 7 years ago: http://mmd.foxtail.com/Archives/Digests/199804/1998.04.05.05.html Wikipedia points out that "In 1939, an international conference recommended that the A above middle C be tuned to 440 Hz. This standard was taken up by the International Organization for Standardization in 1955 (and was reaffirmed by them in 1975) as ISO 16." Just thought you'd like to know.... will wickham ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
