David writes: << At exactly what stage in the chipping & initial tuning stages do users employ Strate-Mate? i.e. after some initial time with piano at 440? >> I use it after everything else is done to the wire and the piano has time to sit as long as possible. Since the bend that this tool makes is distal to the the agraffe or capo, any slack that later arrives from "down stream" at the bridge or hitch pin, is going to allow the bend to move under the termination, thus effectively undoing the bend. This might be useful in relaxing the bend on both sides of the capo, but it makes more work later when you have to straighten everything again!
