1980's Universal Player pneumatics

Dear list, 

I'm preparing to re-glue lift fingers ("Poppet
Lifters") on a player piano key bellows stack out of a
customer's early 1980's Universal player piano.  The
bellows are white plastic, as are the fingers.  All
have failed at the glue joint.  

Has anyone on the list repaired this type?  What is
the best glue?  How was the old glue residue removed? 
Did you use any mechanical fastener to supplement the
glue?
