My client with a 1979 Baldwin spinet complained of excess noise when she depressed the damper pedal. My examination showed that the unichord bass damper felts had somehow gotten sticky and would "pluck" those bass strings when lifted. Anybody ever seen that? My quick remedy was to dust talc powder onto the face of the sticky damper felts. Problem solved. Carman Gentile RPT Redwood Chapter
