David I. asked: "I going to install bridle straps on a Steinway upright. =
No catcher hole for cork so I'm using the plain bridle straps. =
Schaff informed me that the tacks are not available anymore. How do =
you guys and gals attach the bridle straps to the catcher dowel?"

David,
With Hot hide glue!<G> As an aid, to this procedure, I made an aluminum =
thingee. The "slot is coated with emralon so's the glue don't stick to =
it. It's used to push the end of the strap onto the backcatch stem and =
flush against the butt/stem area. I'll post the scans in a sec' or two.
