Andrew,

You're in a dry part of Texas, right?  I was surprised a while back to see 
Guy Nichols post that good ol' glycerin pinblock dope worked better for him 
in his dry environment than CA (because CA needs moisture in the wood to 
cure it).  Have you tried it?

I saved his post because I'll be setting up shop in Albuquerque when I 
graduate this spring.
