Ebony sharps was Anything wrong with finishing keysticks?

I did one set of sharps last year, stripped, sanded to 600, tung oil,
followed by steel wool - they looked great but were so smooth that the
fingers slip on them. Customer was happy but it bothered me. Shouldn't there
be some traction? /jason

Yup, that's pretty much what I do. I like the look very much.

But seriously folks, one can strip all the old finish off the ebony sharps,
sand them and then use e.g. Tung Oil or Danish penetrating resin (Watco) to
preserve the wood and yet leave its beauty visible - no? AT least that's
what SHeldon Smith taught me to do back in '71.
