Hi Dave,
I might give my student lever to my son to play with when he is old enough after he is finished restringing. ;) I like the feel of a real lever after trying another tuner's lever.  The student one is too flimsy and I'm constantly pushing it onto the pin for a better grip.

If nothing else, in 25 years you can look back at your student hammer with fond memories of your beginning...you never know, you may try it again and really love it.  I know plenty of tuners who love their goose neck levers...;-]

Save that Student Hammer for restringing! The handle can be shortened. And, with a tall one piece head, makes an excellent stringing hammer.
