Hi Tom,
My confidence gets shaken when I rub elbows with othes techs who can tune faster and know all the ins and outs about repairs. However, when people find out that I'm sight challanged, they assume that I have keen hearing for tuning. I do, but what they don't know and I don't tell them is that I have to train to hone in on the right things. In fact a lady asked me about that today when I mentioned that I'm sight impaired since I don't drive. So in one sense, that gives me an edge. I use people's perseption to boost my confidence and hone my skills as a tuner. It's real hard to tune in a thrift store with a cashier who keeps complaining like I can' t hear her, and asking customers if they want to take me h ome with them. Imagine the dates I would have gotten if this occured in my single days. Don't worry. I wouldn't trade being married at 40 to an awesome wife and having an awesome 5 month old son for nothing, not even a new tuning lever. ;)
