Hi Rick

I've seen this also on new pianos or pianos that have just been moved.
It is the job of the key stop rail to keep the keys from lifting this
high. You may need to adjust the rail lower.

It was in place and tightened down as it should have been.

What happened to the rail over the keys?

Got to the house locked and loaded and ready for any problem. Removed
the action easy enough as well as the wooden strip that held the hammers
secure for moving.
