Is there a chance that the piano is not level? I know this can cause problems with the hammers returning if the piano is leaning towards the back to much. John Ross mentioned the hammer rail springs corroding off. I just finished replacing all the springs on a 50s vintage Everett. I found from asking other PTG members that the felt was the culprit so I scraped the felt off and sanded the rail so it was clean of any felt. Ron Boyd Milwaukee. Other than the slow return of the hammers, everything is functioning normally. The notes still play, theyre just losing energy because they can t get back to the rest rail. Are there any other causes I should look for before I try soaking? Thanks very much! Let dry overnight - do not blow dry with heat. 90% of the time this will free up all the action centers. Lots about this in the archives.
