Dear Isaac,

I did the repair as you suggest and it worked wonders. There was a 
need to replace some of the leather up in the trap workings but the 
buckskin fit the bill to replace those old worn-out rubber grommets. I 
did notice however that you must be a bit careful not to have the rods 
fit in too tight. Otherwise a different squeak develops. This was 
success!!!
