Avery,
You're right, any topic could come up, but that's good in a way because it demonstrates that we are well rounded not simply one sided piano techs although I'm a new guy on the block. I like the chip idea. Let's use chips made from old piano key tops to make it more interesting. :)

Tonight, yes late this afteroon I had to tune a Mason and Hamlin piano at a nursing home. The activities director said that 5:00 was a good time to come because no one would be in the lobby to disturb my tuning. Great I thought. Well I got there and no piano in the lobby. I had to wait until someone at the front desk could help me out. It was in the activities room. I found the missing piano without a bench. Once I located the bench, I was able to get started. It took me longer because I couldn't figure out how t get the silly front music desk and front panel off until later on. It also had regulating issues, dampers were too close to the strings and up in the trebble area and made a thunk sound like a harpsichord. I had to work with them quite a bit.

Hers my point finally, :) I tuned with ear plugs the ones from Diane here on the list. Diane if you're out there I need you to send me your address privately so I can pay for these little life savers. I was able to tune the piano during a bingo game! This one old lady kept complaing about playing the darn, for list purposes, piano. :) Thanks t o all of you out therewho recommend ear plusg They're great! They filter out a lot of junk especially on my wife's Kimball artist console. Thanks guys!

I still don't understand why we're talking about this on a list that's SUPPOSED to be about

        Dear Dean:

Thank you for your support of the scriptures as the Infallible Word of God. With God we are talking absolutes here. God's attributes are eternal and eternal. We as piano technicians would do well to take to heart the fact that the principles of science are a reflection fo the character of the eternal God.

Christian believers have always taken criticism from those who do not understand who God is. Thank you, Dean, for m"sticking your neck out". Take some consolation that is has not gone unnoticed.

Must be why the Bible has references to the earth being round.

Luis' claim is a popular myth, but that is what it is, a myth. There is much scholarship to demonstrate that throughout history the view of a flat of earth was not widely held in the church, indeed, it was quite the contrary.

The Bible is the most published and most revered book in human history. Its accuracy is unmatched by any other book of antiquity. If you wish to poke fun at it and those who believe it by propagating myths, be my guest. But it isn't very tolerant. And it will elicit a response from me.

It will probably also elicit responses from others condemning me. That's fine, I can take it. Just be sure you equally condemn Louis' statement or you might face the charge of being a hypocrite.

Remember that the people who wrote the bible thought the earth was flat.
