Don't forget that the Schaff lever is a good one. the 21c I believe. It allows one to make small nothces and when putting unisons in it's great. A little tap or two on the handle and the sweet spot as some call it is in. Marshall ps. Im sure there are other good levers out ther which I'd like to try. Don't forget Joe Goss's lever is a good one too. It's well built. ----- Original Message ----- From: Avery To: Pianotech List Sent: Tuesday, June 27, 2006 1:40 PM Subject: Re: NEWOCTAVE GLOBAL Tuning hammers.... I'm just learning how to tune and the stiffnes of these levers is making it much easier to control the movement of the pin. I use (so far) two different tubes. The six inch tube is nice on the junker with pins that aren't incredibly tight. The nine inch tube is great on the tight tuning pins on the Pearl River. Oh, you've had that problem, also! :-D I HATE to tune those! The grands aren't too bad, after prepping, but I really hate those tight pin verticals! Avery I also have one of those New Octave Global hammers - I consider it and the Randy Potter apprentice lever to be emergency equipment. The flex in the steel really bothers me.
