Hi John,
I tuned a Jansen a while back. When I was finished, it sounded like an in tune tone dead piano :)

  Alan,

The other coincidence is that "they both sound pretty darn good." Wow! I've tuned three of them in my few years, and none of them have ever gotten past sounding slightly less miserable. J

Don't you just love Mr. Janssen's pledge that is on the lid decal? Did yours have the little fluorescent lights too?

  What's that chance of this?

Two new customers, one week apart.

Both have 60's Janssen consoles (first Janssens I've seen in this area).

Both moved their pianos here from New Jersey years ago.

Neither owner plays the piano, but both pianos are "family" treasures being tuned out of some sense of guilt, or something.

Neither piano tuned for 30+ years!

Both almost exactly 100 cents flat.

The coincidencs stop at about that point, one owner is an 80-something Methodist widow, the other is a 40ish Catholic priest and they live about 100 miles apart.

And, BTW, with two pitch raise passes and two tuning passes, they both sound pretty darn good, better than I'd have thought. And yes, I charged for the extra work.

  It's a funny business, sometimes.
