finishing tool handles

Hmmmm,

Two for lacquer......

My last handle with lacquer started rubbing off.  Admittedly, I used the
handle fairly soon after application, and perhaps chose the wrong product.
I had some instant drying spray-lac on hand.  Ended up pulling all the
finish off and am starting again.  Anyone use Varnish?
