Ed, I wouldn't call it damage, but in grands with tuning pin bushings, the bushings can't be punched out of the plate, they need to be drilled out. Also, whatever CA has been slopped on the surface of the plate need to be dealt with during refinishing. For those of us obsessives who fill, prime, and sand until the tuning pin field is flat and smooth, the CA, which is harder than plate finish, adds a little extra work.
