Subject: varnish soundboard

Hello List,

Is there any problem with refinishing a soundboard using only varnish?

Reblitz gives two options: either shellac then varnish, or sanding sealer 
then laqcuer?

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

The shellac, a 2 pound cut, will give you a nice seal coat for your varnish.
If I'm not mistaken, Steinway still varnishes their boards.
