Grand hammer shaping.Hi,
This is sometimes why one side of the flange is consistantly looser than the other?

  Subject: Grand hammer shaping.

In shaping new hammers in the bass section with respect to clearance between the adjoining hammers, it .appears that the hammers require shaping on one side (bass side) to acheive clearance. Is there any concern by the imbalane about the shank axis? Although the hammers are skewwed, is there any need to shape the hammer tail on the opposite side?

If there is no way to repair the old wippen...

Take the wippen off A#7, install the damper spoon from the old wippen.

The reason for A#7 is that it won't be missed. Even if someone were to
compulsively push down keys at the top end, they would play the white keys.
