We start with standard steel bridge pins (which
we purchase through Baumgärtel in Germany), then
buff the top section which will be visible in the
finished bridge, clean with thinners, mount in a
polypropylene sheet, deliver to platers. After
plating we heat treat at 260 dgrees C for four
hours to harden. For those who are curious, we
are using mid phosphorus EN plating.

In all, its quite a bit of trouble. We have done
this to see how it works out in reducing the
crushing effect of the wire on the pin. The
deformation of standard steel bridge pins is
quite severe.

By the way, how did your quest for getting to
Rochester work out Gordon? Are you going?
