I also tried VOIP. I liked the service, though there are unavoidable problems with the technology. It was cheap ($25.00/mo.), but it wasn't compatable with my TIVO box. There were echoes on the line, and other various noises. It drove my wife nuts (big no-no), so I dropped it. I had a similar experience to Mike's- the delay of switching the service, and again reconnecting it. It does work, however, and if you don't rely too heavily on other phone-dependent devices like Tivo, you'll be ok. Actually, there are some workarounds for Tivo boxes, but it gets complicated (you have to purchase a modem and program it in a special way). FWIW.
