Bolduc Plate Flipper

I didn't know it was supposed to flip the plate, just lift it.  My question
is has anyone lifted a "D" plate with it or would you trust it to lift one.

I wonder

how does one likewise safely and effectively flip said lifted plate so as to
allow work on the underside?
