White keys hitting the keyslip because it's too close, make clicking sound. Resistance as the keys rub on the way down. ????????????? Paul McCloud inSane Diego ----- Original Message ----- From: To: pianotech at ptg.org Sent: 10/20/2006 8:58:58 PM Subject: a puzzler....at least for me List, Action clicks have been costing me time of late. I had yet another click today. The piano is a Kawai K-30 upright. On hammer blow, there's a click, as well as some resistance late in the key stroke. This was happening on many notes in the middle section of the piano. I thought I'd cured the problem at my last visit when I regulated the backchecks to catch the hammers sooner. I found more clicking today, though. I was determined to find the cause rather than to try to treat the symptoms. What it isn't: jack hanging up or hitting anything it isn't supposed to loose hammer head or shank loose catcher or shank loose anything Some of you long-time techs should get this one in a hurry. It was a new one on me, though. Dave Stahl Dave Stahl Piano Service 650-224-3560 dstahlpiano at sbcglobal.net http://dstahlpiano.net/ Check out the new AOL.
