Unexpected fire hazard in shop

Years ago I worked in cryogenics making liquid oxygen. 
One of the demonstrations for tourists was to place steel wool into a tray of liquid oxygen. It ignites instantly.

  There are oils in steel wool which obviously burn.  You can also ignite it using a 9 volt battery.
