I Haven't seen these actions to offer an opinion on checking but I would venture to say that the metal studs on the rear of the naturals are a replacement for lead and are installed to even off to touchweight between the sharps and naturals. On most verticals which come through my shop, lead is added to the rear of the naturals to effect a -6g FW to even off the touchweight. A good way to get rid of lead which is removed from grand keys. -- Regards, Jon Page
