Electronic Key Boards

" Let's face it, there are many, many brand new pianos out there,
vertical and grand, that cost $20,000 and more that won't compare in sound
or touch to one of the $2K pro electronic keyboards. (Not to mention that
you can move it from venue to venue and it's still in tune"

There is one thing in this statement that is absolutely horse pucky: THE "TOUCH"!!! There isn't a keyboard made that can compare to the Acoustic Piano, IMO. Furthermore, Keyboards do not promote Muscle Tone like a real piano. Most good teachers found this out the hard way and do not recommend keyboards unless it is a "lack of funds" situation. Even then, they will insist upon a real piano as the student gets past the "Beginner" stage.
Don't get me wrong. I think the current level of Keyboards are the best thing since Scotch, for the performing musicians doing gigs all over hell's half acre. These Keyboards make a small band sound far more professional and have the ability to really "fill in the holes" of a small combo. Been there many times. A pianist that really knows how to make a keyboard work, is a delight to gig with.<G>
